About the Childhood Trauma Conference

via The Australia Childhood Foundation

“In the brain, the collective actions of individual nerve cells connect in intricate networks to shape behaviour, form and retrieve memories, evoke emotions, react to danger and build relationships with others.

Knowledge about brain-body science has challenged and resourced exciting innovation in the ways that children, young people and adults are supported to recover from the effects of violence, disruption and relational disconnection.

The neurobiology of childhood trauma and attachment is now integral to practice approaches of professionals from education, child protection, mental health, family support, drug and alcohol, police, out of home care and criminal justice services.

In this unique event, the Australian Childhood Foundation has assembled thought leaders in interpersonal neurobiology, trauma and therapy in a conference format that promises to engage, challenge and integrate perspectives about working with children, young people and families.”

You can book your tickets here.

Keynote Speakers

Cindy Blackstock, Emeritus Professor Judy Atkinson, Dr Dan Siegel, Dr Allan Schore, Pat Ogden, Dr Ed Tronick, Marilyn Davillier, Kim Golding, Dr Sue Carter, Dr Stephen Porges and Dr Dan Hughes

About Jodie Gale

Sydney counsellor, soul-centred life-coach and psychotherapist Jodie Gale, is a leading specialist in women’s emotional, psychological and spiritual health and well-being. She has a private counselling, soul-centred life-coaching and psychotherapy practice in Manly and Allambie Heights on the Northern Beaches.

Jodie has spent the best part of the last decade researching the latest in loss and disenfranchised grief, post-traumatic stress and attachment theory. This informs her work in private practice with women who have suffered abandonment, abuse, trauma and loss through early childhood wounding and/or  intercountry adoption, local adoption or foster care – including Stolen GenerationsForgotten Australians and their family members. As infertility rates sit at about 1 in 6 couples, she also works with many women who are suffering with infertility, involuntary childlessness and those seeking alternative parenting paths, such as adoption or foster care.

Jodie is also the mother of two wonderful little beings through the long-term foster care/permanent care/local adoption program.

About Andi Szasz

Andi is a Psychotherapist and a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator whose private counselling and psychotherapy practice operates in Bondi and Mosman.

Through working with men, women and adolescents over the last decade, she found that whilst clients present with addictions, mood disorders, or relationship difficulties, trauma is very often an underlying factor. This encouraged her to develop her skills to help people who had less than nurturing experiences growing up, and she specialises in the treatment of trauma.

Andi is passionate about consistently improving her skills and has added art therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Brainspotting and EMDR, MATES training to her skill set.

In 2013, Andi undertook training in Brené Brown’s Daring Way™ therapy in Texas, USA, and she became Australia’s first Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator.

Andi has the following academic qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Applied Social Science

Graduate Diploma in Psychology

Masters Degree in Medical Psychotherapy through Sydney University (Candidate)
